A single mother of two was connected with the Launch Point program at the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program after getting her taxes done and speaking with a Launch Point staff member. The client was eager to hear about the program and was ready to get started as soon as possible. Since the client had all documentation needed to determine eligibility for the program, the client’s process began almost immediately. The Success Coach quickly realized that the client was surviving as a single mother with no government benefits and income below 185% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. The client was motivated to do better and after just one session with the Success Coach, the client has increased her income at her job and applied for eligible government benefits to supplement her income. The client has a long-term goal of becoming a home-owner and reaching a place of financial stability for herself and her children.

A Launch Point Success Coach is actively working with a client that is enrolled in the Launch Point program. The client, who is a single mother, has been struggling financially for the last few months as she has been working part-time trying to make ends meet for herself and her child. As the client worked with both the Success Coach and Financial Coach, she realized that she needed to make a change in order to pay her bills and cover monthly costs. Although the client was loyal to her current job, her pay was inadequate, and she received no employee benefits. After being in the Launch Point program for only two and a half months, the client took the leap to begin job searching. Shortly after, the client had an interview and was hired for a new full-time position that would increase her income, provide employee benefits, and have opportunity for growth. Today, this client is enjoying her new job while she plans to further her education and learn how to budget to plan for her future.
