About
The United Way Alexis de Tocqueville Society, initiated in March 1984, is designed to deepen the understanding, commitment and support of individuals to United Ways and to recognize the deep commitment to service. Membership in the Society is granted to individuals who contribute at least $10,000 annually to the United Way of South Central Tennessee.
The Tocqueville Society is a nationally recognized society. Currently, over 400 societies raise over $529 million dollars from nearly 25,000 individuals annually. These leaders share a spirit of philanthropy and engage locally to improve the lives of others.

The Tocqueville Society was named after Alexis de Tocqueville, a 19th-century French political thinker and historian who admired values he witnessed while traveling throughout the U.S. – liberty, equality and the spirit of neighbor helping neighbor.
Membership
The local Tocqueville Society is a way to make even greater impact with your philanthropic giving.
